About Gu’s Kitchen

Natives of the birthplace of Szechuan cuisine, Chengdu, Szechuan province in southwestern China, Chef Gu, his wife, and his daughter Yvonne Gu bring a combined 90 years of culinary experience to the kitchen. Chef Gu has cooked for a variety of celebrities, including Bill Gates, and was often called upon “to save” struggling Chinese restaurants. The Gu family has created another unique dining experience on Buford Highway – Gu’s Kitchen. This is different from both Gu’s Dumplings and Gu’s Bistro. Look for a more casual setting with new Sichuan “Street Food” items, along with some favorites from Gu’s Bistro and Gu’s Dumplings.

Went here for the first time today, and it was good. The dan-dan noodles was filling and tasteful. The Pork dumplings were delicious as well. The price could feel a tad high even during lunch. I reduced 2 overall star due to service as it's essentially non-existent and the atmosphere was a bit lackluster. At one point, I asked for a refill on my coke zero, was told to give them a moment, and was never attended too after. The atmosphere also felt generic and wasn't noteworthy.

went there with my daughter wanting to try a new dumpling place and was not let down! i ordered stir fried green beans, the dan dan noodles and an order of dumplings. loves the dumpling and green beans, the noodles were pretty good too only thing i didnt like was the ground beef that was on top. i thought about taking it off when i ordered but decided to try it, i tried it and could go without. overall pretty god spot in a good plaza ample parking and pretty good service. the place was dead i was the only person in there but they got a few to go orders while i was there. would definitely recommend yall go try it out.

I am changing my review (for the better! ) I've been enjoying coming to Gu's for many years. But in the last year or so, I've just come less. Food has been consistently good, but I stopped because I couldn't stand the QR Code ordering system (and its even worse when you pay!) It was implemented after COVID, so it wasn't even because of that. It just feels really impersonal. I enjoy the "experience" of eating out. I enjoy talking to the waiter or waitress and asking them what they like, or any suggestions. It just lost that personal touch. But today I came into eat and Sarah was absolutely brilliant, providing amazing customer service. Offered to take our order without being asked. Checked in on us, etc. And so based on that, I'm upping my review and hope they'll keep that going.

Dan Dan noodles, ridiculous portion of meat to noodles. The ground beef seemed to be sprinkled on as if were garnish instead of meat & noodle dish. Disappointed in the portion sizes

I’ve ordered from here twice this week because I’m in town for work. First night it was really good really delicious, but there was no plastic wear in the bag and nowhere to indicate that in the ordering process. Also, this must be the only Chinese restaurant in the world that doesn’t have soy sauce. But the worst part is they don’t answer the phone if you call him so if you order delivery, you’re just kinda at their mercy. But the food isn’t horrible
